TELLICO HIGHLANDS

Woke up at 4am and drove an hour and 20 minutes to the starting point. The sun hadn’t even started to peek out, so I leaned my bike against my truck to go get my light. A strong gust of wind knocked my bike over derailleur side down of course. Bent my hanger, tore my tape, and shattered my bar plug. Oh well I bent it out the best I could and adjusted the low limit to make sure my chain wouldn’t go into the spokes. I hit the road at 6:45. My watch said it was 36 degrees, but it sure felt colder with the wind. I wore shorts but had a gator and a windbreaker so it wasn’t too bad once I got spinning. About an hour and a half in, my ancient Wahoo Bolt decided to tell me I was going the wrong way. So I back tracked and took a different turn. The trail continued to get more and more deteriorated before I decided the gps had no idea where it was. So I had to backtrack again. Wasted about 30 minutes or so with all of that. The descents were a little bumpy because of my tire choice, and I had a few close calls with cars coming around blind turns. Besides that, the ride was pretty much trouble free. I rode my Specialized Crux with 700x40c Panaracer Gravel King SKR. I also run this bike with a Goat Link on the rear deraileur, 50-34 crank, and 11-42 cassette. I wore a 2.5 liter camelback and had one 24oz bottle for water. I also had one 24 oz bottle and one 18oz bottle with raspberry Tailwind. I consumed 8 citrus zyns, 3 raspberry uncrustables, 2 raspberry Hammer Gels, and a few handfuls of Gummy cola bottles. 10/10 will definitely being trying this route again.
