KIM RANALLO - 2021 Liv Denote Advanced 1
I ran my favorite gravel tires, Maxxis Ramblers, using a 45c in the front and 40c in the rear. I ran an 11x42t cassette with a single 40t front chain ring. Having a 1by set-up allows me to run a dropper post, which helps me feel more confident on technical descents. I used a Revelate Designs Mag Tank top-tube bag for snacks, phone, chapstick. I had also had a Revelate Designs Shrew seat bag to hold my water filter (Sawyer Squeeze), tire patch kit, C02, tire levers, spare tube, and some small first aid items, as well as extra room to hold any layers I might need to shed during the ride.
JOHN WIYGUL - Trek Checkpoint SL 7
12 speed SRAM Force with a 40 T cog in the front. Two bottle cage (carried a third bottle in jersey). Panaracer Gravelking SK Tubeless 43c tires (30 psi in rear and 26 psi in front). "Fast and light!"

CAREY LOWERY - 2017 Niner RLT RDO
34T chainring with 10/42 cassette, SRAM Force drive train/hydraulic brakes, Industry 9 UL235 CX wheelset, Ritchey carbon flared bar, Gravel Kings SK, 43mm front, 38 mm rear. Revelate Designs Mountain FeedBag, Oveja Negra top tube bag, SpeedSlev saddle bag and handlebar bag.
CHRIS JOICE
i had intended to bring my favorite rig, the Dreamchaser (Salsa Stormchaser), but i couldn't fit the cog i wanted without adding chain. so, i broke out the trusty Ratmonk (Karate Monkey with dropbars)... geared it 32:18, and aired up the 2.3 tires for a little more roll. in the end, the big tires were fun for traction/comfort, but were probably a little slower. i'm pretty sure the dreamchaser would've descended a bit faster too.
JER WALKER
I chose a mountain bike because I'm old skool and want to keep my dentist and chiropractor off of speed dial. 2.35" tires at 23 psi and 100mm of travel were just what the doctor ordered. Sure, I may have been faster in other sections without all the rolling weight, but being able to bomb the descents more than made up for it. After all, mountain bikes are for mountains, right?

JON LIVENGOOD - Specialized Diverge
42 IRC Doublecross tires. And a double up front cause doubles are rad. If I were to do this route again, I’d do it on my cutthroat with 1.9 mezcals as the loose dusty gravel (and unmaintained Miller ridge) would be faster on slightly bigger tires me thinks. Also I used two water bottles and a camblebak chase vest, only stopped at Indian Boundary for a refill.
CHRIS JOICE - Salsa Stormchaser
Single speed geared geared 38:20. 2.2 Ikon (front) and 50c Donally MSO (rear). This bike has seen many long distance adventures, and I chose it (over my CruxSS) for the rowdy descents and its comfort. I opted to keep my load light and took minimal tool/repair kit, and just Rockgeist top tube bag. My only regret was that I wish I'd taken a 3rd bottle, or at least had two big bottles... live and learn!
JERAMIE HOFF - Litespeed Ultimate G
42c WTB Resolutes @29/31 psi. SRAM Eagle 12speed 'mullet' build.(40x10x45). Ride breakdown: 3 water stops (Ranger station, Campground store, Citico piped spring).
JERAMIE HOFF - Ti MTB Hardtail
700x40 tires@ 35/37psi. Sram 12 speed MTB gearing. 2 bottles used w/ 3 water stops. Lead Out H-bar bag holds pump and food. Saddle bag (tube, tool, lube). Depending on your riding style and preferences, a strong case could be made for either a gravel bike or a MTB bike on this course. Because the overall road surface on this route is the best within the ITT series, I'd likely give a slight advantage to the use of a gravel bike in this case.

BRUCE STAUFFER - Norco Search XR
Typical Eagle AXS gearing. Stock flared drop bars with RAVX XRD clip-on TT bars. Vittoria Terreno Dry 38c front, 38c Zero’s on the rear. I use a one-up pump to avoid having to carry a multi tool and CO2 and use an Oveja Negro snack pack and a fairly large saddlebag to carry tubes, tire plugs, nutrition, battery pack, etc. I can fit two water bottle cages in the frame triangle, one under the downtube and 2 on the fork. I also strapped a Platypus flask under the TT bars. When it turned warm enough to remove my jacket, I emptied the flask into an empty water bottle and strapped my jacket where my flask had been.
ELIZABETH McCALLEY - Trek Boone
Tires: Maxxis Rambler EXO (40/38). Gearing: 2x11 50/34 up front with a 34 in the back. I had a handlebar bag filled with snacks and two bottles since there are several options to refill water on the route.
JOHN ROBERTSON - Giant TCX
Giant TCX with SRAM apex 1x11. 40 tooth front 11-42 rear. This is the main issue I had on steep climbs as I could have used a lower gear or two. Both tires are 700x43 and worked great.
